How to flip an image

Horizontal flip, vertical flip or color invert?

How do I mirror an image?

What is the difference between flipping horizontally and vertically?
A horizontal flip swaps left and right and creates a mirror image. A vertical flip swaps top and bottom, like a reflection in water. Doing both at once gives the same result as rotating the image by 180°.
Why are my selfies mirrored?
Most front cameras show you a mirrored preview, because that is how you are used to seeing yourself. Some phones also save the photo that way, so text in the background reads backwards. Flip it horizontally to get the real, unmirrored version.
