A free QR code generator that stays free

Create a QR code for a link, a Wi-Fi network, a contact card, an email, a phone number, an SMS or any text. The code updates as you type, in the colors and style you choose, with your logo in the middle if you want. Download it as PNG, JPG or SVG in high resolution. No account, no watermark, and the code never expires: everything is made in your browser, and what you type is never sent anywhere.

How to create a QR code

  1. Choose what the code contains: a link, Wi-Fi, a contact, an email, a phone number, an SMS or text.
  2. Fill in the fields, then pick a style, colors and a logo if you want.
  3. Check the scan test, then download the code as PNG, SVG or JPG.

What to use it for

  • Restaurants and shops: a link to the menu, the website or a review page.
  • Wi-Fi for guests: at home, in a rental, an office or a café, no password to spell out.
  • Business cards: a contact card people save in one scan.
  • Flyers, posters and packaging: a link to a page, a video or an order form.
  • Events: a link to the program, the registration or the photos.

Static or dynamic QR codes?

Many sites offer "free" QR codes that stop working after a 14-day trial: they are dynamic codes, which send every scan through their server, so they can turn them off or ask for a subscription. The codes made here are static: the content is in the code itself. They cannot track scans or change destination, but they work forever, for free, and nobody sees who scans them.

Frequently asked questions

Do these QR codes expire?

No. They are static QR codes: the link or the text is written in the code itself, so it works as long as the code is printed, with no account, no subscription and no server in between. Codes that stop working after a free trial are dynamic codes, which go through the server of the site that made them.

Is it really free?

Yes: colors, logo, PNG, SVG and JPG downloads, in high resolution, with no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on the number of codes.

Can I change the link after printing the code?

No. A static code always opens what it contains. If you may change the destination later, put a link to a page you control (your website, a link page) in the code, and change that page instead.

How do I make a QR code for my Wi-Fi?

Choose Wi-Fi, type the network name and the password exactly as they are, and pick the security (WPA for most home and office networks). Guests scan the code with their phone camera and join the network without typing the password.

Will my QR code still scan with colors and a logo?

The tool reads every code back before you download it, and tells you if the colors are too close or if the code is too dense. With a logo, the error correction goes to High automatically, so up to 30% of the code can be hidden. Keep a dark code on a light background, and test the printed code with your phone.

What size should I print a QR code?

At least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide for a code read up close, like on a business card, and about one tenth of the reading distance otherwise: 10 cm for a poster read from 1 meter. Download the SVG for print: it stays sharp at any size.
