Frequently asked questions

Why convert a PNG to JPG?

To get a much lighter file. A photo saved as PNG is often 3 to 10 times heavier than the same photo in JPG, with no visible difference. Lighter files are faster to send by email, to upload, and to load on a website.

What happens to the transparent background?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background color. It is white by default, and you can choose black or any other color before downloading.

Which quality should I choose?

90% is the default and looks identical to the original for almost every photo. 80% gives a lighter file with a difference that is hard to see. Below 60%, blocks and blur start to show. The size of each converted file is displayed, so you can compare.

Should I convert screenshots and logos to JPG?

Usually not. JPG is made for photos: on text, sharp lines and flat colors it adds small artifacts, and the file is not always lighter. For those images, keep PNG or try WEBP in the menu.

Can I convert several PNG files at once?

Yes. Drop up to 50 images, they all get the same quality and background, then download them one by one or in a single zip file.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and your images never leave your device. Metadata is removed from the JPG files.
